OOTW: First Week of Senior Year

Hey all!  So, tragedy has unfolded: my iMac has been having some serious mood swings lately, THEREFORE, the making of YouTube videos must be put on hold for now (which sucks, because I already pre-filmed about three of them).  ON A HAPPY NOTE, I have a post for you today: MY FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL IN OUTFITS.  I'm now a senior in high school (I know, right?), so I decided to start out right by documenting the beginning of the end.  BEFORE I BEGIN, THOUGH, I first need to explain my philosophy when it comes to dressing for the first week of school.  Many people who are not me try to wear as many new, trendy outfits as possible during the first few days of school - dress to impress, right?  WRONG.  Well, it's not wrong, it's just NOT MY STYLE (I'm different, yeah, I'm different).  My method is to try to keep my outfits stylish yet simplistic during the first week.  The reason for this is that I'm pretty observant, and over the years I've noticed that over half of the girls who show up looking fabulous during the first week start to decline and then plummet into a sad, dark pit of mediocrity during the second week.  TO AVOID THIS, I have developed my philosophy:
  1. Dress well the first week (well enough to keep up with the first-week-frenzy)
  2. Dress even better - about 85% of your fashion capacity - the second week (people will start to notice that you have killer taste, now)
  3. Dress incredibly the third week (all the girls be like: oh my gosh, I, like, totally want her whole closet)
USING THIS METHOD, you will soon be known as one of the best dressed.  People will look to you for inspiration, which is a very cool thing.  Please know that I'm not encouraging materialism or telling you to become consumed with societal acceptance when it comes to your wardrobe.  I just want you all to look good.  Really good.  AS A MOTIVATIONAL SIDE NOTE: knowing you look amazing makes you feel awesome, giving you a major confidence boost, which, one of these days, might be exactly what you need :)

First Day of School (Tuesday):
Foreign Exchange Top ::: PacSun Jeans ::: PacSun Bandeau ::: Target Sandals ::: Claire's Earrings (Hoops and Studs)
BLURB TIME: Notice the balance.  I paired an open-back tank top with mid-rise (nearly high-rise) jeans.  The show of skin on the back is balanced with the higher waist on the jeans, so you're not looking too scandalous on the first day.  AS A SIDE NOTE: Dark wash jeans slim curvier thighs and a curvy butt (yes, that's why I'm wearing them).  Also, the tank-and-jeans deal is perfect for both the warm weather and the air-conditioned classrooms.

 Second Day of School (Wednesday):
Brandy Melville Sweater ::: Foreign Exchange High-Rise Shorts ::: Target Sandals ::: Heavenly Couture Black Bandeau ::: Claire's Earrings (Hoops and Studs) ::: Claire's Cross Necklace
BL-BL-BL-BLURB: Here we go again with the balance.  Shorts with a light sweater (seriously, its Brandy, so it's nearly equivalent to just wearing the bandeau), in my opinion, are a little bit classier and more appropriate than short shorts and a strappy tank top during the first week of school.  You want to make a chic first impression, yes?  Good.  Another note on the outfit: sweaters and shorts paired together are marvelously effortless, which is very attractive, indeed ;)

QUICK NOTE:
I woke up late on day three, and didn't have time to take pics during my open periods (my school does block scheduling) either, so I don't have that outfit posted here.  SORRY EVERYONE.

Fourth Day of School (Friday):
Windsor Top ::: PacSun Jeans ::: Windsor Bandeau ::: American Eagle Outfitters Belt ::: Soda White Slip-on Shoes ::: Claire's Earrings (Hoops and Studs)
BLURBIN' IT UP: I know what you're thinking: shut up about the balance.  To that, I say: never.  Okay, so it's not about showing skin or anything this time.  ON THIS EPISODE OF THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ME, it's about femininity and simplicity.  The shirt is very light and intricate and girly (which I completely am in love with), so I paired it with white slip-on shoes, which are very casual and cool.  That way there's not an overload of daintiness, allowing the top to stand out :)

That's all, lovelies!  Thanks for reading - I hope you enjoyed :)
BEFORE I SAY GOODBYE, THOUGH, I would just like to say that I made all of these three-part photo collages on a website called Photovisi.  It's GENIUS, I encourage you all to check it out!

Love you all

OOTD: Maxi & Sleeveless

Hi dolls! I haven't posted an Outfit of the Day in a while, so I thought I would just show you what I wore to school today.  The weather is high 70's (ahh, I love California) and the sun is shining, but the maxi skirt didn't feel too hot or anything, even though its black, because everything was balanced with the sandals and sleeveless shirt.  I'll have product info all posted down below the pictures, I hope you like! Make sure to comment at the end of this post and FOLLOW FOLLOW FOLLOW this blog if you want to see more :)

Alright! So that's it for this outfit, I hope you like it! One of the reasons I love maxi skirts is because they're effortlessly cool - you just pull them on (make sure you wear the right undergarments - I recommend a lace thong, which I'll link somewhere) and throw on a shirt, and you look cute AND comfy.  I hope you get some inspiration from this, and if you do make sure to let me know in the comments section below! :) Happy Friday, everyone, I hope you all have an amazing weekend.

Here's that pesky thong :P

OOTD & How-To: Outfit for a Time-Crunch

Hello all! This post isn't extremely special (this outfit is nothing special, I mean), but I decided that I would show you what I like to wear when I'm pressed for time.  I woke up late yesterday (when I wore this) and didn't have the luxury of thought (haha) in the morning, so I just kind of threw this on.  It looks cute and comfy, and it only took me about 2.5 minutes for me to devise this (my outfits are like evil plans hehe) and, eventually, make myself look presentable :) Anyway, since this outfit was the kind that you don't really need to think about, I decided that I would put a few tips for getting ready quick while still being able to get a few compliments on your outfit of choice :) Enjoy

OUTFIT TIPS:

1. Don't try anything super detailed / new.  If you bought something recently and would like to wear it, DON'T.  For me, wearing something new requires a little bit more thought, so that the outfit looks as put-together as possible, therefore boosting confidence.  Also, since it's a CRIME (at least for me, haha) to wear the same thing within a month of time, wasting a new piece on a time-cruncher day would not be advisable.  On another note, if you have a special kind of top (maybe with beading, sequins, a crazy-amazing print, etc.), don't go for that either.  A top that is detailed also requires a bit more thought in looking your best.

2. Pick an accent, and the rest can be simple.  As you can see in my outfit (below), the grey sheer sweater, black sandals, rolled jeans, and black bandeau are nothing special - just regular items, almost like basics.  Also, my hair is up in a top knot, pulling the focus away from my head-area.  The one accent that I picked was my scarf: it works with the grey (okay, almost everything works with grey) because it's composed of cool colors, giving off a relaxed appearance.  Also, it's sheer and floral-printed, so it adds a girly sort of charm to an otherwise simple outfit.

3. Wear something comfortable without being a slob.  One of my pet peeves (HUGE pet peeve) is when people show up to school in their pajamas.  Then, they proceed to make some kind of excuse about how they "woke up so late" and "didn't have any time."  YOU HAVE TIME, OKAY?!  Please, if for nothing or nobody else, do this for me: make it seem like you didn't roll out of bed 5 minutes ago.  I don't want to sound materialistic or anything like that, but dressing to impress, I think, is important in that a person can give off a certain vibe about their personality based on the way they look.  Anyway, do whatever you need to do in order to look less like the sandman and more like an appearance-conscious member of society.

BEAUTY TIPS:

1. Keep hair fuss-free and hair-time under 5 minutes.  I don't know any of you readers personally, so I don't know how fast or well you can pull-off a certain hairstyle.  At the same time, though, I KNOW that there is a not a single person who can have absolutely perfect-looking locks under time constraints.  Therefore, my first tip is to go for something fuss-free.  Top knots, ponytails, quick braids or half-ups are all great examples of fuss-free hair styles.  They all look cute and will do well to keep your hair away from your face, causing you to look more alert and awake.

2. Minimal make-up.  Not NONE.  Unless you are the type that doesn't wear make-up at all, it is important that you at least do SOMETHING.  As you can see in the pictures below, all I did was put concealer (for acne and under-eye circles) on my face, and chap-stick on my lips.  For my eyes, mascara and a swipe of a jumbo stick on my lids and bottom waterline were sufficient.  All in all, it took me about 3 minutes to finish my entire face.  Putting just a bit of make-up on, again, exudes a certain attitude of sorts, making you actually look more relaxed (and low-maintenance) than you might be feeling.  Also, make-up contributes to looking much more presentable, which is always a plus.

OOTD: Summer Skirt and Denim

Hi everybody! So, this is just an outfit of the day (very sunday-brunch-esque, no?).  It was sunny and warm again (YAY), which is the weather that I'm used to FINALLY haha.  I hope you like! Make sure you check out my Polyvore for some collages / outfits / whatever you want to call them, which I update pretty consistently :) Thanks!

SIDE NOTE: If any of you happen to be wondering about my abrupt and prominent acquisition of a TAN (haha), I'll tell you that it's because I've moved from Basketball season to Swim season at school :) Considering practice is from 2:00-4:30pm every day (right at the height of the heat), I go from my winter-white to my summer-brown in about a week and a half.  It happens this quickly even though I wear SPF 80 on my body and SPF 100 on my face (haha) - as you all know, sunscreen is very important in preventing SKIN CANCER and other various undesirable things concerning one's epidermis.  Anyway, that's it about my tan - just thought I would address this so that nobody would think it was "tanning-bed-gone-wrong" :P

OOTD: The Sweater and Leggings Duo

Hey everyone! It's spring break, but the weather is not very SPRINGY yet - it's sunny in SoCal, but the temperature is not what we're used to this time of year (haha it's a bit chilly). Anyway, I just decided to wear a light, sheer sweater today to accommodate for the weather.  NOTE: In these pictures, I have platform sling-back wedges on my feet.  In reality, I wore TOMS today, but I decided to add the heel-embellishment to make this post a bit more exciting.  I hope you like it! Please comment :)

OOTD: Denim Shirt and Knit Cardi

Hey everyone! Here's just what I wore to school today...I haven't been doing OOTDs because, honestly, i just wake up too late, but today I got myself out of bed and had time to snap a few pics, so yeah!

The whole thing! (which I think is a pretty nice outfit, even though my hair was kinda blowing around haha)
Black Leggings: $15 from American Eagle
Nail Polish: Coastal Surf by Revlon

 White Slip-On Shoes:
$12 from Wet Seal
NOTE:
The quality of these isn't THAT great, I mean I've had them for about 7 months and JUST today the insole dislodged itself from the shoe O_O basically, they're falling apart.  I had another pair before that lasted me about a year and a half - they were the same style, but they were by SODA, which I think you can buy at Tilly's and other stores like that, if not on their website

Denim Shirt: $21 from Target (but I had a giftcard haha so I got it for $11)
Oversized Knit Cardigan: $49 from Foreign Exchange
BUT GUESS WHAT?  I GOT THE CARDIGAN FOR FREE
Everything in the store right now is buy one get one free, excluding the jackets, which are already on sale for $29.  They have really nice stuff right now, so I bought something else for $53 (Christmas shopping haha) and got this, originally almost FIFTY BUCKS, absolutely free (I feel like the SitnSleep guy right now).  SO EVERYTHING WORKED OUT IN MY FAVOR WITH THIS - IT WAS A TOTAL STEAL :D

So anyways, this was my outfit of the day :)
It was a crisp 62 degrees in SoCal today, which is extremely cold in these parts, haha! If you're from Alaska and you're reading this, don't make fun of me!  I've been to Alaska, and I've seen all the people wearing shorts and t-shirts in 65-degree weather - I must admit, it was very admirable haha

ALRIGHT so I'm really done :)

OOTD: Mustache :)

Theme: Mustaches ;)
I MADE THIS SHIRT MYSELF!!! Let me know if you like it (and if you would buy it hehehe)
SHORTS: $24 from American Eagle

SHOES: around $12 from Tilly's
NOTE: this is not their original state, they used to be sort of like gladiator sandals, with straps running around the back of the heel, but I cut them up because I wore them too often and the straps broke! Haha

♪ Here I am...Rock you like a hurricane ♪
...excuse the dodgy background in this picture haha

This, my friends, is what you call a KICK-ASS MUSTACHE haha
...or you could call it the front of my shirt, whatever you want :P
